ATYPICAL - Netflix - Review

Hello to my fellow tv show junkies,

today I wanted to review a new show from our favorite website Netflix.
It's called ATYPICAL, wich first season aired this August - 11, August to be specific.

This show is about an autistic teenage boy called Sam or with better words a boy with autism. If you watched a few episodes you will know everything about the "people-first language"...but anyways lets continue with the summary.
The show is about Sam, his search for a girlfriend, his partents, who also have their difficulties and his sisters Casey, who tries to concour her teenage life. It gives us a glimpse in what it means to have this abilility and not only how it affects one person, but all the people around.

Atypicial was created and written by Robia Rashid, who previously worked on shows like "How I Met Your Mother" and you can definitly say that this Neflix show is also a comedy show - but with a twist. They worked together with a professor who worked at a Centre for Autsm Reasearch and Treatment to portray the illness as realistic as possible.

And I think they really managed to do that. Of course I can't speak for others but I really had the feeling to understand Autism and the logic behind Sam's doing better. It was really easy to binge the eight episodes, wich are also only around 30 minutes.

The show not only shows different aspects of Sam's autism, but also shows the sturggels of Casey's life. Her problems in schools, her role as a sister, daughter and friend. And we also get a look into the life of the parents. Is being a mom enogh? Can a marriage survive all these difficulties?...

I really hope that Atypical is going to be renewed, because the last episode didn't really give me the answers I was hoping for. There aren't any news out when and if the secon season is coming, but I think we won't have to wait long for the answer.

Finally I can say, that I can really recommend this show. It is not only great if you want to know more abour Autism, but also if you are looking for a new show, which you can binge in a few hours - I mean we all been there!
